How the U.S. immigration changed in 2022 and what to await from 2023

In 2023, EB-5 investors will have a chance to jump ahead of backlog if they invest in rural, high unemployment, or infrastructure projects. They will be able to concurrently file an EB-5 permanent resident application (I-526 petition) while getting employment authorization and advanced parole travel documents.

The USCIS has announced the following:
* premium processing for all immigrant worker petitions (Form I-140) and specific employment authorization applications (Form I-765) for students and exchange visitors;
* biometrics exemption for change of nonimmigrant status and extension of nonimmigrant stay (Form I-539);
* simplifying forms – applications for employment authorization (Form I-765), adjustment of status (Form I-485), and naturalization (Form N-400);
* improving wait times for Advance Parole.

The naturalization backlog was reduced by 62% in 2022. Citizenship cases that previously took 1 year now take 4-5 months.
